Washer bottle funnel cap

This one is a super, super simple mod. I’ve mostly seen it done in the UK using genuine VAG group parts, but I wanted to see if a cheap generic part would work as effectively.

I wouldn’t at all say this is essential, in fact unless you buy one for < $10 like I did on aliexpress I wouldn’t recommend it at all, but, it is kinda cool and will make for a marginally easier time refilling the washer bottle.

(Not that it’s hard at all, but as I said I do not think this is an essential mod at all).

The part you’re after is Skoda part 6V0955485. I bought a generic one from aliexpress and it was AU$8, including delivery, and it’s perfectly fine.

You take the factory cap off, which basically is a case of opening it up and then pulling it out of the little clippy part it sits in. This is so simple I didn’t get get a photo.

Then you press the base down of the Skoda cap. It is a bit of a stretch over the Jimny’s bottle, but do this in some warm summer sun and the rubber cap will stretch enough to make it work. It took me a few goes carefully working it on but I got there in the end. Don’t worry about orientation – you can spin it around to whatever orientation you like once it’s fully seated.

It’ll then be easiest to clip it closed onto itself to help make sure it’s fully on the bottle.

When you open it up, you can also flip the front ‘lip’ part up as well and it gives a fairly reasonable funnel shape to the top of the washer bottle, which should help to limit any spillage.

I’ve not really had any problem with my aim but it definitely is easier to dump from a large premixed bottle of washer fluid using this.

Would I recommend this? You know, it’s not necessarily up to me to say if something is worth it to you. It does look a bit odd and out of place in the Jimny’s engine bay, but, the funnel idea is at least useful as a concept. I just wouldn’t do it unless you can do it cheaply, though.
